Managing a Multi-Generational Workforce

The session will focus on how to leverage generational diversity in the workplace into a competitive advantage. Organizations capitalizing on the wide range of beliefs, attitudes and perspectives can realize a distinct advantage to the company through a culture of cooperation and productivity of five different generations. The generations of those currently in the workforce, or soon entering, will be defined as traditionalists, baby boomers, Gen X, Millennials and Gen Z. You will be lead on an inventory of specific generational issues and differences and lead them to solutions, likely not uncommon, to the issues being faced by managers. The facilitated session will proceed to answer common questions as they pertain to a multigenerational workforce; what are three major issues, what issues are most difficult to manage, what are advantages and disadvantages of a multi-generational workforce, and what techniques can you employ to work more synergistically together and among generations. Finally, a review of learning styles of managers will be discussed-informally-and how that style can be employed to better manage others.

Participants will explore leadership styles while identifying which style is theirs. The facilitated session will discuss an eight step process for effective communication, leading change and the “Path to Commitment”. The group will explore personality and learning styles and how to recognize those styles in others to effectively communicate using language that aligns with the style of those being led.

Behavioral Based Interviewing-Tips for a Successful New Hire

The session will have, as its focus, the do’s and dont’s of the interview and hiring process. Topics will include the law and what conversational topics are appropriate and those that are not lawful. The overarching theme of the workshop is that past performance is the best indicator of future job performance. Our facilitator will work with identified personnel to describe how preparing for the interview with planned questions, identified competencies, and key attributes and skills for the position can make for a successful hire. Participants will work through examples of open ended questions using verbs such as show, demonstrate, and practice, how to follow-up answers with additional questioning to get to the performance side of the question -to appraise the candidates suitability for the position at hand.

Using Emotional Intelligence for Effective Communication.(Managers and Supervisors)

The session will focus on the ability to identify, use, understand, and manage emotion in an effective and positive way, particularly when communicating with leaders, co-workers, and direct reports. Understanding, and practicing the five categories of emotional intelligence will be the focus of the workshop. Self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills will be defined and examples of emphasizing relationships, focusing on challenges as well as achievements, and authenticity in communication are demonstrated while participants have the opportunity to engage with these concepts.
